This is great with yoghurt, porridge, on toast or used in baking – we recently made some banana cupcakes and added a tsp to the middle of the batter. Jam can be delicious but tends to have a high sugar content and lack nutrients, so this 10-minute alternative is a great switch!
Prep Time 2 minutes mins
Cook Time 8 minutes mins
- 500 g Frozen Berries I use a mixture of whatever we have in the freezer, but it tends to be a mix of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants.
- 2 tbsp Honey
- a tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 3 tbsp Chia Seeds
Add your frozen fruit to a pan over a low heat and stir while it defrosts and begins to cook.
Switch to a medium heat and stir in your honey and cinnamon.
Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes, stirring so that the bottom doesn't stick and burn.
Add this to your blender for about 10 seconds, you should have a course consistency. Return this to the pan for a further 4-5 minutes over a low heat and add in the chia seeds. It should now begin to thicken into a nice jam texture.
You can sweeten with more honey to suit taste, or increase/decrease the cinnamon.
