Perhaps my new favourite recipe on here, these are so delicious and with some speedy preparation you could have them ready in 20 minutes! You could also so easily switch the greek yoghurt for some coconut yoghurt and these would be vegan. I use whole meal flour, but regular self raising flour would work too. I topped with a drizzle of agave nectar, but for younger children i'd skip this step – it was just to add a little extra sweetness/stickiness and that mess could really be done without!!
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 14 minutes mins
- 250 g Greek Yoghurt or coconut yoghurt to make vegan
- 325 g Self Raising Flour I used Doves Farm wholemeal one
- 220 g Apple Sauce stew your own or purchase ready made for convenience
- a tsp Ground Cinnamon
Preheat your oven to 180C fan.
Use your hands to knead together the yoghurt and flour until you have a nice not-too-sticky dough.
Place the dough on a floured surface and roll out to a rectangle about a cm thick.
Spread your apple sauce over leaving an inch clear along one of the longer edges.
Sprinkle your cinnamon on top of the apple sauce.
Take the long edge you didn't keep clear and roll it carefully over on itself, repeat until you have a long log and gently push the seal together.
Slice into 10 even pieces, about 2 inches wide.
Lay on a lined baking tray and bake for 15 minutes.
Allow to cool and enjoy! I then drizzle on a little agave nectar, but you could also use honey or sprinkle on some nuts.
